Reactions of Ekiti people to the nullification of governorship election by the court of appeal sitting in Ilorin
The election of Mr. Segun Oni as the governor of Ekiti state was nullified by the court of appeal sitting in Ilorin on Tuesday, February 17. A lot of reactions followed the judgment as recorded here when I went round Ado, the state capital in company of my camera man Felix. It was just a day after the judgment. We spoke to members and officials of both parties as well as the candidate of the Action Congress, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, whose appeal was upheld by the tribunal which fell short of proclaiming Dr. Fayemi the duly elected governor but instead called for re-run election in some local governments and wards.
On the same Wednesday, we captured events at the House of Assembly where the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Saliu Adeoti was sworn in as the Acting Speaker following the swearing in of the substantive Speaker Rt. Hon. Olatunji Odeyemi as the Acting Governor of the state following the nullification of Governor Oni’s election.
Shortly after this, we recorded the address of the Acting Governor, Rt. Hon. Odeyemi to a gathering of PDP members from across the state. It took place at the Governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti.
